When fashion folk are in need of a new, up and coming designer to name drop, they often turn to Parsons The New School for Design in New York. Parsons has produced some of the country’s most loved names in fashion including Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford, Alexander Wang and Proenza Schouler to name a handful. Now, the ‘Lost Time Is Never Found Again’ exhibition, which is taking place as part of the International Fashion Showcase, presents the next generation of Parsons design stars. The exhibition, which is taking place at the historic Benjamin Franklin House, presents the work of 8 students from the MFA Fashion Design and Society program, a brand new graduate program for emerging designers that was initiated through the support of alumna Donna Karan. The work on show in London includes award-winning looks from the recent Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty competition organised by the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute as well as pieces shown at the premier Italian knitwear industry event, Pitti Immagine Filati.
Don’t miss Sinead Lawlor’s acid bright knitted dresses, complete with off beat fringing and stripes or the serene femininity of Beckett Foggs’s sculptural designs. The knitted dresses designed by Talia Shuvalov are sporty and vibrant while the ornate craftsmanship evident in Paula Cheng’s work is worth taking time to admire.
The ‘Lost Time Is Never Found Again’ exhibition is taking place from 15-20 February at Benjamin Franklin House, 36 Craven Street, WC2N 5NF.
