Brighton based fashion designer Lilia Yip will showcase new collections alongside the rising stars of Philippine fashion at this year’s Look of Style fashion awards in Manila in October.
Through the Look of Style Awards, the British Council, Look fashion magazine and the Philippine Daily Inquirer offer the opportunity for a UK designer to showcase their work alongside the award nominees and participate in a programme of meetings and research to learn about the Philippine fashion and textile industry to potentially lead to future collaboration. This is followed by a visit to the UK by the overall winner of the awards who will undertake a short course at the prestigious Central St Martins.
Lilia graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2008, and established her studio in 2009. Originally from Singapore, Lilia is representative of the many talented young designers, who attracted to the UK to study then establish their studios here.
Lilia’s collections feature asymmetric abstract cuts, digital art and raw finishes. The quality of fabrics is an integral part of the brand and Lilia extensively uses sustainable and natural materials like organic cotton, bamboo, silks and wool, supporting local UK manufacturers and small businesses as much as possible.
